In the past few years, we’ve streamlined our garden operations at Evensong Farm so that now we only grow what we love.

Culinary Herbs, Aromatics, Wild Greens and select Heirloom varieties of Tomatoes, Cucumbers… and anything else that strikes our fancy.

You will not find baskets upon baskets of summer squash or totes filled with salad greens. We’ve done that and had a great time, but we’ve found there are special garden varieties we enjoy much more, and now focus our energies there.

With only a small greenhouse for starting plants, virtually all of our growing is outdoors, in harmony with the seasons. Early Spring brings Chive, Nettle, Garlic-Mustard and Spring-fed Watercress. Mints arrive in time for the running of the Derby. At least 5 varieties of Basil herald the arrival of Summer. Sorrel, Fennel, Tarragon, Lovage and edible blossoms like Nasturtium and Borage are some of the less common herbs we like to grow.

And, of course, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme are all here, too.
